Advantages of Cloud Backup #
The basis of the Nuabee solution is the backup of the customer environment to a cloud. This technology is increasingly adopted because of its many advantages. However, it does present certain constraints that are important to consider before integrating it into a data management strategy.
Cost savings:
Cloud backup reduces the cost of purchasing and maintaining physical backup hardware (such as servers and tapes).
Scalability:
The cloud offers easy scalability, allowing storage space to be increased or reduced as needed without any additional hardware investment, whether for a decrease or an increase (linked to data growth).
Security and compliance:
Nuabee’s solution offers data encryption at source (which remains encrypted in the cloud) and secure transport to the cloud. Nuabee stores data in a cloud with numerous certifications.
Reliability and redundancy:
As the cloud is multi AZ, data is replicated in several datacenters, guaranteeing high availability and protection against hardware failure.
Constraints of Cloud Backup #
Dependence on the connection (Internet or other, depending on the link through which the backup flows):
Initial backups and full restores can be bandwidth-intensive, potentially impacting network performance. Nuabee offers a number of options, including SSD NAS for the first load, should bandwidth not allow the first load to take place within a reasonable timeframe (one to two weeks maximum).
Nuabee prefers the Internet link for backup. So a stable, high-performance Internet connection is essential to guarantee efficient backup and restore processes.
Security and confidentiality:
As explained above, Nuabee encrypts data at source, transports it securely and keeps it encrypted in the cloud. Nevertheless, although the data is encrypted, it remains vulnerable to cyber-attacks and data breaches in the local environment. Nuabee does not perform additional scans, but remains available and is able to set up secure environments for teams when needed during cyber crises.
Latency and performance:
Recovery times may be longer than restoring from a local backup, depending on the size of the data to be restored and the speed of the Internet connection.
